What is Energy Flexibility?
The Energy Flexibility is the capacity of Consumption Units or Energy Communities to adapt their consumption (whether and when to use energy) in order:
- to reduce grid stress and congestion
- to avoid turning on and off generation plants or grid upgrades
- to limit any penalties for failing to balance Demand and Supply
- to avoid buying electricity when prices are high
BeChained, as a Demand Side Response Aggregator, aggregates consumers’ flexibility to offer it as solutions to grid operators (TRO) and balance responsible parties (BSP) to ease Demand and Supply balance in real time.
Consumers define the average flexibility of their energy use accordingly with their own needs and comfort settings. The sum of this aggregated flexibility will be released to the aggregator, who will contact the BRP and DSO to inform them about his capability to activate flex.
From the consumers’ stand point, their flexibility will be rewarded by grid operators (indirectly) or aggregator (directly) and benefits their energy bill.
